The People Of MTLRD: Johnny Capote
When it comes to tough jobs - well, someone’s gotta do it. Johnny Capote is often just the man for the job. The coach of the rowdy Racaille, and the brains behind the MTLRD boutcast system - Dr. Capote helps out the league in many ways. We pay him by way of incredibly cheap beer, and he seems to be alright with that.
Q: What brought you to Montreal Roller Derby?
I play in a band with one of the originals El Kaboom. I caught on right from the get go as a fan and sorta got kicked into coaching along the way.
Q: What is your favorite aspect of roller derby?
The offence and defence don’t face each other, it’s a whole new way of thinking.
Q: What tune to you think has to be part of a good after party DJ set?
Unfortunaltly, Final Countdown by Europe or something by Journey.
Q: What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Spam, yuk!!
Q: What do you like most about living in Montreal?
The eye candy
Q: If you could invite one person from the past or present to come to your next bout, who would that be and why?
My 84 year old neighbor who used to go to the Montreal Forum back in the day to watch rollerderby live. I’m sure she’d get a kick out of it today.
