WILMINGTON, MA– DNN #21 Boston started out as big sisters to DNN #17 Montreal as the Canadians made their way into WFTDA in 2007, and that sibling rivalry has remained even though the New Skids have been on top since 2011. This time out Montreal kept their winning streak safe, and took the bout 188-117.

Three Teams, Three 30-Minute Bouts

Wheels and heads will surely turn at Montreal Roller Derby’s Round Robin, happening this Saturday at Le Taz in Montreal. The league’s home team coaches Jess Bandit for Les Filles du Roi (FDR), Bone Machine for La Racaille and Chasing Amy for Les Contrabanditas (‘Ditas) shared their insights with us concerning the upcoming games; the three teams will face off with three 30-minute bouts. The New Skids On The Block open the season in Montreal

Friday February the 15th, the New Skids On The Block officially opened their roller derby season at the Taz taking on the Tri-City Thunder.

In the last year, Tri-City have lost some key veteran players. “It allowed several players to shine and to prove themselves capable” the team said after the bout. Jess Bandit has been a major figure of MTLRD since its humble beginnings. She was captain of Les Filles du Roi, she is currently co-captain of the New Skids on the Block, she was president of the league from 2008 to 2010, and she still sits on the b.o.d. as the New Skids rep. February 17-18-19 will be MTLRD’s first training camp, hosted by the New Skids on the Block. It is with great pleasure that we announce that all the trainee spots were sold out in advance to skaters from Ontario, New England, Quebec and the Maritimes.

On November 26th, the Montreal Roller Derby League threw its end of season bash 50s style. It was also time to welcome all our rookies and transfers.

The winners of the MTLRD Awards were revealed that night, some voted by the league, some voted by the fans.
